Man I’m confused!!! People are complaining about coopers decision about NC school system, Yes he is Democratic, but SC has pushed school start back til mid Sept. And then will be part virtual also, and I remind you Sc Gov is Republican!!! So why are we making political judgments when it’s for the greater good!!! It’s truly a difficult decision all around, and if all these negative people have a greater answer, then go get a job in school system and see what the heck they are going through!!!!! Omg someone please enlighten me! And also, SC opened sooner in Phase 1 than NC and guess who got the COVID hotspot,,, Yep SC, and local hospitals had to call in the National Guard! Ma’am I work in SC, and my coworkers with horry county have stated school starts mid Sept. We as in Nc Brunswick county go back monday also, remote to start and then hybrid after 5weeks. Trump is still pushing for schools to be open for political reasons, regardless of what guidelines are on his website. Politicians, like Dan Forest, follow his lead to get the hyper conservative votes. Neither one cares about children or families. Their disregard for what’s right is fueling the spread of the virus. Fran Connelly Angert my daughter is a teacher too in a shall not for profit charter school in Boone theyhave been working and meeting all summer to try to figure out what us best. Right now they are meeting virtually for the 1st 6 weeks. They are dedicated teachers who care very much about the children Teachers need to be respected and paid more. he’s pushing for schools to open because he knows (and he’s basing this on the American Pediatric Society’s recommendation) that keeping the kids away from school will do far more damage to children than the Covid ever could if kids were to contract it at school.
